8th -- Famous Friendly Flabob Second Friday Five p.m. Family Fabulous Flying Film Festival, Due to Oshkosh overlap.
The movie will be “Men With Wings” starring Fred MacMurray and Ray Milland, and featuring Andy Devine (Roy Rogers’ sidekick), a very young Donald O’Connor, Porter Hall (you don’t know his name but you will recognize him) and many other veteran actors. The Movie was directed by William Wellman, director of “Lafayette Escadrille, The High and the Mighty, Island in the Sky, Gallant Journey, Thunderbirds, Central Airport, and Wings.” Fred MacMurray is the devil-may-care barnstormer who just wants to fly ‘em. Ray Milland is the careful designer and builder who wants to make them better and safer. MacMurray marries the girl they both love, but can’t stay put and is soon off to the wars, first over the trenches in the Great War, and then to freelance for the Chinese against the Japanese. Will his insouciance catch up with him at last? Will steady dependable Milland design a gadget to save his neck? Come and see, and enjoy the pageant of flight from the Wright Bros. right up to the ultramodern P-35 |
